OgdenXR Delivers Its Second “Effective Presentations” Workshop for Entrepreneurs

Why We Did It

With that in mind, we hosted our second “Effective Presentations” workshop, aimed at entrepreneurs who want to structure their ideas, communicate their vision, and prepare for real-world opportunities—whether it’s a pitch for the Wildcat MicroFund, the Get Started program (*) from Utah’s Business Office, or simply the next time someone asks: “So, what do you do?”

(*) I shared my experience of receiving a grant from this program.

What Was the Workshop About?

This session focused on two core goals:

1. Understanding key presentation concepts and techniques:

We explored foundational tools like the Elevator Pitch and other presentation techniques that help clearly, concisely, and persuasively communicate an idea.

2. Applying what you learned to your own business case:

Each participant worked on their own business idea and crafted a real presentation using the tools shared during the workshop. This was not just about theory—it was about action.

Content That Makes a Difference

Throughout the session, we covered practical strategies that can truly elevate a pitch:

•Tailoring your message to different audiences (investors, banks, partners, etc.)

• Being concrete, visual, and persuasive

• The importance of practice, practice… and more practice

•Structuring a business presentation in 8 steps: from identifying the problem and defining your value proposition to showing your team, your numbers, and your final ask.

We also shared real-life tips like including strategic appendices, and using a timer during live presentations.

Our aim was to keep it simple and real—because at the end of the day, it’s not just about having a great idea… it’s about knowing how to communicate it in a professional and memorable way.

Watching participants improve their presentations was truly inspiring. Each person refined their storytelling, added clarity, and built confidence for their next big opportunity.
